Shut down the legacy FTP server (ftp.example.edu) that has been running unencrypted file transfers since 2017. All remaining 14 automated file-transfer jobs have been migrated to the institutional SFTP gateway (sftp.example.edu). The FTP server VM will be powered off and archived.

Business Justification

Unencrypted FTP poses a significant data-in-transit risk. The institutional SFTP gateway provides the same functionality with SSH-based encryption, key-based authentication, and centralized audit logging.
